This grunt has been kicking around on the Internet since the pre-WWW days (anyone else remember Gopher?) Before that I could be seen lurking around whatever local BBS I could find an open line on or using up a TTY on an open terminal on campus. I do not see this as a day job, I see it as a constant - it is my job, my hobby, my life.
My formal education was as a computer engineering technologist back in the 1990s though the majority of what I have learned is from the pain and sweat of working through real world problems for myself and clients. For the latter half of the 1990s up until 2008 I was employed at a local ISP doing everything from customer support to full on systems administration to custom application development. After an amicable parting of the ways (they moved locations and I did not want to follow), I have been focussing on consulting full time.
